"Gray State" is a 2017 documentary directed by Erik Nelson and executive produced by Werner Herzog. Filmmaker David Crowley, his wife and child were the victims of what is touted as a Christmas 2014 / January 17, 2015 (when the bodies were found) double murder-suicide in Apple Valley, Minnesota, but was more likely a triple murder.
In the trailer at ~0:51, you can just hear the word "TRANSFECTION" as a child is being branded. It could be this very word that signed David Crowley's death warrant -- not to mention his infamous surname and the masked Executioner who wears a Freemason apron.
